Job details
Education: No degree, certificate or diploma. Work site environment: Dusty. Work setting: Commercial. Residential. Tasks: Prepare, measure and mark surfaces to be covered. Mix, apply and spread mortar, cement, mastic, glue or other adhesives using hand trowel. Prepare rough plans and sketches. Set tiles in place and apply pressure to affix them to base. Align and straighten tiles. Prepare tenders and quotations. Cut and fit tiles around obstacles and openings using hand and power cutting tools. Pack grout into joints between tiles and remove excess grout. Remove and replace cracked or damaged tiles. Lay and set mosaic tiles to create decorative wall, mural and floor designs. Estimate costs and materials. Install tile strips. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Physically demanding. Bending, crouching, kneeling. Attention to detail. Personal suitability: Accurate. Client focus. Reliability. Hardworking. Experience: 1 year to less than 2 years. Support for newcomers and refugees: Participates in a government or community program or initiative that supports newcomers and/or refugees. Supports social and labour market integration of newcomers and/or refugees (for example: facilitating access to community resources, language training, skills training, etc.). Recruits newcomers and/or refugees who were displaced by a conflict or a natural disaster (for example: Ukraine, Afghanistan, etc.) . Supports newcomers and/or refugees with foreign credential recognition. Offers mentorship programs that pair newcomers and/or refugees with experienced employees . Provides diversity and cross-cultural trainings to create a welcoming work environment for newcomers and/or refugees . Support for youths: Participates in a government or community program or initiative that supports youth employment. Offers on-the-job training tailored to youths. Offers mentorship, coaching and/or networking opportunities for youths. Provides awareness training to employees to create a welcoming work environment for youths. Support for Indigenous people: Participates in a government or community program or initiative that supports Indigenous people.
