Education: Bachelor's degree. Chemical engineering. Mechanical engineering. or equivalent experience. Work setting: Oil and gas industry. Engineering firm. Tasks: Conduct research into the feasibility, design, operation and performance of mechanisms, components and systems. Design power plants, machines and equipment. Supervise and inspect the installation of mechanical systems. Investigate mechanical failures or unexpected maintenance problems. Plan and manage projects, and prepare material, cost and timing estimates, reports and design specifications for machinery and systems. Prepare contract documents and evaluate tenders for industrial construction or maintenance. Supervision: No supervision responsibility. 1 to 2 people. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Registration as a Professional Engineer (P. Eng.) by a provincial or territorial association. Certified Engineering Technologist (CET). Eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer (P. Eng.) by a provincial or territorial association. Computer and technology knowledge: SolidWorks software. AutoCAD. Project management software. MS Excel. Area of work experience: Purchasing, procurement and contracts. Design. Type of industry experience: Pipelines. Energy.
