Education: Other trades certificate or diploma. or equivalent experience. Work site environment: Noisy. Hot. Cold/refrigerated. Outdoors. Work setting: On-site customer service. Tasks: Install refrigeration systems. Measure and lay out reference points for installation. Read blueprints or other instructions to determine work requirements. Troubleshoot heating systems. Troubleshoot ventilation, air handling, refrigeration and air conditioning systems. Assemble and install refrigeration or air conditioning components. Coach and instruct apprentices. Measure, cut and connect piping using welding and brazing equipment. Provide customer service. Start up system and test for leaks using testing devices. Perform maintenance such as, recharging system with refrigerant, checking and testing regulators or calibrating system. Handle, recover and store refrigerants. Repair and replace parts and components for entire refrigeration, air conditioning, ventilation or heat pump systems. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanic Trade Certification. Working at heights training. Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanic Red Seal Certificate. First Aid Certificate. Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) Certificate. Apprenticeship training: Level four apprenticeship training. Level five apprenticeship training. Control systems: Electrical devices. Air conditioning and refrigeration systems: Rooftop (self-contained). Air motioning and circulation. Ventilation. Security and safety: Driver's validity licence check. Transportation/travel information: Valid driver's licence. Own vehicle. Vehicle supplied by employer. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Physically demanding. Handling heavy loads.
