Education: College, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 3 months to less than 1 year. Work setting: Dental practice. Willing to relocate. Independently owned business. Tasks: Prepare patients for dental examinations. Prepare plaster models and moulds. Train other dental laboratory assistants. Order dental and office supplies. Prepare dental instruments and filling materials. Maintain and order supplies. Sterilize and maintain instruments and equipment. Polish teeth and clinical crowns and apply fluoride and sealant. Prepare wax bite-blocks and impression trays. Perform intra-oral duties. Take and develop X-rays. Record dental procedures performed on patients. Fabricate and place temporary crowns and restorations. Take preliminary impressions for diagnostic casts. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Registration with provincial or territorial authorities. Technical expertise (dental): Polishing. Computer and technology knowledge: MS Word. Equipment, eystems and controls experience: Medical and biomedical equipment and systems. Area of specialization: Orthodontic appliances. Crowns and bridges. Ceramic or porcelain application. Security and safety: Criminal record check. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Fast-paced environment. Work under pressure. Tight deadlines. Repetitive tasks. Manual dexterity.
