Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate. Work site environment: Outdoors. Hot. Cold/refrigerated. Dusty. Work setting: Various locations. Tasks: Operate heavy equipment. Clean and lubricate equipment and refill equipment tanks. Measure distance, volume, length and weight. Operate computer controlled equipment. Understand the purpose, proper usgage and information found on material safety data sheets (MSDS). Complete onboard and other logs. Conduct pre-operational checks on equipment. Prepare accident reports. Secure special attachments to equipment. Operate GPS (Global Positioning System) and other navigation equipment. Operate two-way radios and other communication equipment. Perform minor repairs to equipment. Operate hydraulic pumping systems. Read and interpret blueprints, maps, drawings and specifications. Area of work experience: Excavation. Fine grading and finishing. Landscaping. Sub-grade excavating. Security and safety: Criminal record check. Driving record check (abstract). Drug test. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Physically demanding. Attention to detail. Fast-paced environment. Overtime required. Experience: 1 year to less than 2 years. Support for newcomers and refugees: Participates in a government or community program or initiative that supports newcomers and/or refugees. Supports social and labour market integration of newcomers and/or refugees (for example: facilitating access to community resources, language training, skills training, etc.). Recruits newcomers and/or refugees who were displaced by a conflict or a natural disaster (for example: Ukraine, Afghanistan, etc.) . Supports newcomers and/or refugees with foreign credential recognition. Support for youths: Offers on-the-job training tailored to youth. Offers mentorship, coaching and/or networking opportunities for youth. Support for Veterans: Offers mentorship, coaching and/or networking opportunities for Veterans. Provides awareness training to employees to create a welcoming work environment for Veterans . Support for Indigenous people: Offers mentorship, coaching and/or networking opportunities for Indigenous workers . Develops and maintains relationships with indigenous communities, indigenous-owned businesses and organizations . Supports for visible minorities: Participates in a government or community program or initiative that supports members of visible minorities. Offers mentorship programs that pair members of visible minorities with experienced employees.
