Responsibilities

Tasks

  • Conduct artificial insemination and spraying or shearing of livestock or disinfecting pens, barns or poultry houses
  • Diagnose livestock health issues
  • Direct farm feed inventory activities
  • Direct farm grooming activities
  • Handling animals
  • Monitor the calving process
  • Monitoring animal health
  • Organize tasks to accomplish the work
  • Supervise milking operations to ensure work is done correctly
  • Treat livestock health issues
  • Assist in the development and implementation of farm safety and bio-security procedures
  • Carry out a pasture or pen breeding programs
  • Co-ordinate and supervise the work of general farm workers and harvesting labourers
  • Ensure farm safety and bio-security procedures are followed
  • Formulate feeding program
  • Maintain livestock performance records
  • Maintain quality control and production records
  • Select livestock for sale
  • Supervise and oversee breeding and other livestock-related programs
  • Maintain work records and logs
  • Operate and maintain farm machinery and equipment
  • Perform general farm duties
