    Construction Bon-Air announced the expansion of its facilities in Saint-Félicien and Chibougamau as well as the construction of a new location in Alma. Investments totalling $2M are expected, which will create 30 jobs.

    Saguenay-Bagotville Airport announced, in collaboration with the City of Saguenay and the Government of Quebec, an investment of nearly $21M to expand and modernize its facilities. Work is scheduled to be completed for the end of 2021.
    Marché Bonichoix in L'Ascension-de-Notre-Seigneur will close at the end of August, causing the loss of 10 jobs

    Resolute Forest Products has temporarily laid off 70 of its 100 employees at the Saint-Félicien sawmill for four weeks. Workers involved in cutting and drying activities will be affected by this stoppage.

    Deliwok, a company specializing in producing spring and egg rolls, announced an investment of $3.2M, with support from the Government of Canada, to modernize its plant in Chicoutimi
    The Government of Quebec is investing more than $13.9M in three school expansion projects in the Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean region. These investments are included in the Plan québécois des infrastructures 2019-2029 and will begin this year.
    Échafaudage Industriel, a company specializing in scaffolding rentals and sales, opened its new location in Jonquière. An investment of $1M was required.
    Mode Choc announced the creation of a distribution and liquidation centre In Jonquière. The opening is scheduled for fall and should create more than 10 jobs.

    The Government of Canada is investing more than $345M to modernize three key roadways in Greater Montréal. The project involves the extension of Autoroute 19, the renovation of the Pont Pie-IX bridge between Montréal and Laval, and the construction of a reserved lane.
    The Société québécoise du cannabis (SQDC) will soon be opening three additional outlets in the province in Sainte-Agathe-des-Monts, Granby and Montréal
    Bureau en gros-Staples Canada, an office supply retailer, will be holding a one-day job fair on June 1 in all 305 of its stores across Canada. The company is looking to fill 1,000 positions in its stores and distribution centres.
    The Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean tourism region is looking to hire 626 employees. The positions to be filled include cooks, service personnel, maintenance workers, facilitators, lifeguards and ticket sellers.
    Groupe D Resto has announced the start of construction on a Belle et la Boeuf restaurant as well as a Starbucks. The $3.7M investment will create a total of 70 jobs for the two establishments. The opening is planned for fall 2019.

    The Mr. Pretzels chain will open a booth at Place du Royaume in Chicoutimi, which will create some 15 jobs
    Carrefour Environnement Saguenay (CES) in Chicoutimi, in partnership with Desjardins, has announced the construction of a warehouse at a cost of $1M
    The Société québécoise du cannabis (SQDC) has announced a project to set up a shop in Chicoutimi, scheduled to open in the fall. The company is currently looking for employees.
    Les Mille-Pattes daycare located on the military base in Bagotville has announced that it is closing. The number of employees who will be laid off is not yet known.
    Boutique Première in La Baie is closing. The number of employees who will be laid off is not yet known.
    Pavex, a paving company in Saint-Félicien, has been awarded a $20M contract to repair the runway at the Kuujjuaq airport. The work will begin in the summer, and some 30 workers, including 10 from Kuujjuaq, will be involved.

    Maçonnex, a company specializing in the distribution of exterior siding, masonry, landscaping products, stoves, and fireplaces, has just reopened in Chicoutimi thanks to a $1.7M investment
    Produits Gilbert, a company specializing in the design, manufacturing, and marketing of forestry equipment, is investing $5M in its Roberval plant in partnership with the governments of Canada and Quebec. This project will create 18 jobs.

    Telecommunications company Bell Canada has laid off 76 technicians working on its residential wireless internet service in Quebec and Ontario
    Groupe Méridien Maritime will invest $17.6M in the construction of a hybrid factory ship prototype, creating 109 jobs at its Matane, Portneuf, and Longueuil facilities. About 40 positions will be added to the Matane shipyard.
    Portes et Fenêtres Fusion has inaugurated its facilities in Desbiens. The $1M investment led to the creation of 40 jobs. The business is also seeking 15 new employees.

    Sherweb, specializing in the storage of cloud computing data for various companies, is looking to hire 100 people in its offices in Sherbrooke and Longueuil in order to support its growth
    The federal government and various partners are investing over $5.2M to create the Centre de transformation et de valorisation de bioproduits, a bioproduct processing and utilization centre, on the campus of Université du Québec à Chicoutimi. The Centre is scheduled to open in spring 2020.
    The O'Soleil cooperative in Métabetchouan-Lac-à-la-Croix recently closed. The number of jobs lost is not known at this time.
    Groupe OngerNeige was recently formed in Saguenay following the acquisition of the snow removal companies OngerNeige, Création paysage, Déneigement SM, Hudon & Tremblay et Déneigement Pro. The amount of the transactions was $7M.
    Go Sport, a sports clothing store, will open in Chicoutimi. The investment of over $1M should result in the creation of three new jobs when the store opens in August.
    Auberge des Îles, in partnership with the governments of Canada and Quebec, has announced the modernization of its Saint-Gédéon facilities, a project requiring an investment of $1.4M. The work should be completed by the beginning of summer 2019.
    Lambert Peat Moss is investing $6M in Rivière-Ouelle in the Bas-Saint-Laurent region and in Longue-Rive in Côte-Nord to expand its bagging plant and improve productivity. Some 15 jobs, including 10 in Rivière-Ouelle, will be created over the coming year.
    The Government of Quebec, in collaboration with a number of community partners, is creating a network of digital culture development officers. This initiative will result in the creation of some 40 officer positions across the province.

    Jeans Factory, a clothing chain based in Warwick, is closing all of its shops in Quebec, laying off approximately 100 people
    The Metro DB grocery store located in Dolbeau-Mistassini is investing $5M in modernizing and expanding its premises. The work should be completed by November.
    Construction Rock Dufour, an excavation and paving company located in Jonquière, will install a new lighting system at the Bagotville military base. The $3.7M contract covers 16 months of work starting in June.
    The Centre intégré universitaire de santé et services sociaux (CIUSSS) in Saguenay Lac-Saint-Jean is looking for students to fill 110 positions over the summer. The recruitment period has been extended until the end of April.
    The St-Alphonse-Resto-pub will open in Roberval. The number of jobs that will be created with the opening expected in late April is not known for the time being.

    After having resorted to insolvency proceedings in 2018, Dans un Jardin, the Quebec chain of personal care product boutiques, will reopen 15 boutiques in Quebec thanks to intervention by Groupe Marie Claire
    Armoires Cuisines Action, which serves residential and commercial markets, invested $8M to expand and modernize its Sainte-Sabine plant and develop showrooms in Montérégie and Laval
    The CIUSSS de l'Estrie-CHUS is looking to fill 575 positions by summer. The open positions, which include but are not limited to service attendants, nurses, medical secretaries, and social workers, are posted on its website.
    The KFC restaurant in Alma has closed. The number of employees who have lost their job is currently unknown.
    The City of Dolbeau-Mistassini has announced the construction of an aqua fitness complex. The company Unibec was chosen to carry out the project, which is scheduled to begin in April at a cost of $15.3M.
    Elysis, an aluminum technology development company, has announced the construction of a research centre in Jonquière at a cost of $188M. The project is scheduled to start in the summer. The company expects to create 25 jobs upon opening in 2020.
    The City of Saguenay is looking for students to fill 300 summer positions. A second call for applications was just issued, and interested candidates should apply on the City's website as soon as possible.
    Electro Saguenay, an Alma-based company specializing in the construction and maintenance of electric energy and telecommunication networks, was awarded contracts worth nearly $7.5M to replace Hydro-Québec's high-voltage line insulators

    In partnership with the Government of Canada and the Government of Quebec, Affûtage N.J.R., a company specializing in industrial sharpening, has announced a $1.2M investment to acquire and modernize facilities in Alma
    The Trois-Rivières/Bécancour job fair will take place on March 27 and 28, with over 1,700 job vacancies to fill. The Trois-Rivières industrial building will serve as the venue for the first day of the fair, followed by a virtual fair the next day.
